Changing Seasons: Letting Autumn in at Fulham Pier

As we say goodbye to the hottest summer on record, it’s left us all craving chilly autumn walks by the River Thames - pops of reds, oranges and yellows overhead, offering some colour under grey skies.

Despite still hitting daily temps of 20 degrees in mid-October, there is a place where you can go for a taste of autumn (literally and figuratively - I’m looking at you chai buns) until mid-November.

Ammonite are delighted to have re-tendered for Fulham Pier’s Autumn and Winter installations at the Craven Cottage grounds. This marks one full year of collaboration with this wonderful team.

Designing retail spaces with seasonal pop-ups is a fantastic way to keep frequent visitors engaged and entice new customers to visit. We love seeing visitors' pictures of our designs on social media, embracing the new season to come.

A walk down the long pier space, which is flanked with cute cafes, bars and food stalls, under a blanket of twinkling amber lights and rich red leaves will have you getting into the cosy mindset. It’s rare to have a community-rich space with such open access to the Thames.

London may not have the best Autumn/Winter weather, but we do thrive at creating cosy spaces to escape to when the sun has set all too early.

Design Details

Our Creative Producer, Matt Veitch, on his inspiration for this autumnal display:

“Place and time speaks to this design more than any we have conceived this year. At Fulham, the river flows with a changing sense of emotion through the seasons. Now, from the endless ripples of summer fun to the freshness of a new school year and the warmth of friends new and old, Fulham looks towards winter adventures, of darker evenings filled with fun and light. The vibrant, warm rich foliage that forms the canopy of the interior of Fulham Pier is designed to bring people together to eat, drink, laugh, make plans, relax, enjoy Halloween with the kids and ultimately, embrace the beauty of a changing river and its beguiling flora and fauna as a new and exciting seasonal chapter unfolds.”

  • Leaf design - The brief for 2026 was to take the same design of leaves from 2025, with the same density and LED eyes hidden within twinkle lights, but to make the leaves pop more. Therefore Matt chose red shade RAL 3020 for the spray paint to update the leaves with a more eye-catching colour.
  • Multi-purpose branches for every season - We keep our branches rigged year-round and incorporate designs into them as the base.
  • Video wall vinyl wrap - We love to update the huge video wall with a new vinyl wrapping each season to enhance the overall look of the space. We’ve transitioned from beach hut stripes to log cabin.
